Student Council Overview

  • Ms. Crawford is the middle shool Student Council advisor. She began because she wanted to help promote positivity at the middle school, and has now been the Student Council Advisor for several years; in fact, she loves being a part of helping students learn to be positive role models.

    What's the group's goal?

    The middle school Student Council is a group of volunteer students working together (with an adult advisor) within the framework of a constitution or bylaws to provide a means for student expression and assistance in school affairs and activities. It gives opportunities for student experience in leadership and encourages student / faculty / community relations. Through projects and activities, student councils work to:

    • Promote citizenship
    • Promote leadership
    • Promote human relations

    Ms. Crawford wants TMS Student Council members to be the best person they can, and to set an example for all students.

    Who can join?

    Student Council is open to sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. 

    What does the club do?

    The Student Council usually sponsors a family for Christmas; it also organizes and runs the Valentine's Day Dance. In past years, they have also promoted dress up days and hall decorations for different sporting events (such as high school homecoming). This year, the Student Council is sponsoring the Spring Fling dance.

    What can new members expect?

    Student Council has meetings once a month and high expectations for members to be positive role models in the middle school.
