About the Coach

Sam Phillips is the Middle School Cross Country coach. He's coached at Tipton for two years now, though it's his first year as the Middle School Cross Country and Track coach.
Mr. Phillips has three siblings. He graduated from Tipton High School in 2017, and went on to graduate from IUK in December of 2021. His senior year of high school, he was one of only two people who were awarded the athletic department's 150-point plaque. He was a two-time regional qualifier in track and field, and served as a captain of the IU Kokomo Cross Country and Track teams. His senior year of college, he received the River States Conference Champion of Character.

Is there a booster club for the activity?
The team does not currently have a booster club.

Is there a cost to join the sport?
The only cost is that of participants' running shoes.

Is there any equipment that is required to participate?
Participants only need a good pair of running shoes!

What are the expectations for athletes?
Coach Phillips expects everyone to work hard every day and be supportive of their teammates.

When are practices?
Optional running with the high school team starts June 20th, Monday-Thursday at 9:00 AM at the Nature Center Deck. The Nature Center is behind the school.

When are tryouts and/or a callout meeting?
The team will have another callout meeting in the first week of school.

Will there be a parent meeting?
The parents' meeting will be planned once school starts.
