The U.S. Census Bureau will wrap up its counting efforts for the 2020 census on Wednesday, September 30, a month sooner than previously announced. This includes in-person and collecting responses online, over the phone and by mail. At this time, some 4 out of 10 households nationwide have yet to be counted. The year’s count is more important than ever. It essential to how we will rebuild and how much of the desperately needed federal funding each year is allocated in our community. This includes programs and services that are critical for schools, students, and younger children, such as Title I, II, III, and IV Grant Funding; Special Education Grant Funding, Head Start, After-School Programs, and National School Lunch Program (including free and reduced-price school lunches) among others.
