School has already started in many communities and students will begin school at Tipton this week. That means that school buses will be on the roads. We'd like to remind all motorist to be alert for school buses and take your time. Motorists ignoring the stop arm of the school bus, indicating that the bus has stopped to pick up children, is a growing problem and puts our children at risk. Be aware that buses will need to stop along highways and roadways to pick up children. Bus drivers give sufficient notice when stopping with the use of their flashing lights and use of stop arms Drivers need to be aware of bus stops, obey the law, and do not pass. We all need to work together to keep our children safe.
One serious bus/car accident has already happened this year in Perry Township. Driver, student hospitalized after crash involving Perry Township bus on south side.
