Please see the information below about the Boiler Bridges Event that will be held tomorrow night in Miami County.

The Boiler Bridges event for the Tipton area will be held tomorrow night, Tuesday, September 12 starting at 6:30 pm at the Miami County Fairgrounds in Peru, Indiana. This event is designed to help high school students interested in college learn more about the programs offered by Purdue University. Representatives from the College of Agriculture, Purdue Polytechnics, College of Science, Admissions, College of Health and Human Sciences, Department of Technology Leadership and Innovation, and the Division of Financial Aid will be present to answer questions and make connections with potential students. Local Extension Educators will also be present to help make connections to campus.

Sept 8 - Cheerleaders Helping

Want to lend some assistance to the many people who were impacted by Hurricane Harvey? The Tipton & Heights cheerleaders will be teaming up with the football teams this Friday night (Sept 8) to collect donations to send to Houston. The donations will go to Aldine School Corporation...this school system was heavily impacted by the hurricane. Cheerleaders will also be accepting new school supplies to send to Aldine students/teachers. This is a wonderful opportunity for the Tipton & Hamilton Heights Communities to come together to support another school system (1,000 miles away) who has experienced the unimaginable. Sept 19 - Career Fair

The Tipton County Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Tipton County Career Readiness Council will be hosting a Career/Job Fair on Tuesday, September 19 at the Tipton County Fairgrounds.

From 9:30-2:30, Tipton Middle School students will visit the Career Fair to see what career opportunities are available to them in Tipton County. They will have a chance to meet and interact with local employers and learn what skills are needed to work for that business.

A Job Fair will run from 4:00-6:00 where the focus will be on the adults in the community. People interested in employment or maybe a job change are encouraged to bring copies of their resume and meet local employers at the Job Fair. Childcare will be provided during this time. Come out and see what Tipton County has to offer.

THS Baseball & Softball Golf Scramble

The THS Baseball and Softball teams will have a golf scramble at Tipton Municipal Golf Course on Saturday, September 23, 2017.  Registration starts at 1:15pm and tee time is at 2:00pm.  Entry is $50 per player ($200 per team) and prizes are awarded for 1st through 3rd place.  There will also be a closest to the pin, closest to the line, and putting contest.  Entry deadline is Thursday, September 21st.  Questions should be directed to Travis Scott at 317-385-0346 or

KASEC Special Education Meeting

Kokomo Area Special Education Cooperative (KASEC)  will be hosting a Special Education Non-Public Consultation Meeting.  This meeting is for any private school or home schooled student in the area.

Sept 12 - IUK Parent Night

Indiana University Kokomo will host a Parent Night event on Tuesday, September 12th, 2017 at 6:30 PM in the Kelley Student Center. This free program is designed to help educate parents of potential college students about application processes, financial aid, collegiate academics, athletics, college life, etc.  Parents are encouraged to attend even if their child is not considering IU Kokomo, as the information should be applicable to other college choices.

Picture Day will be Aug 29th.  All students will need to have their picture taken whether or not they are purchasing the picture.  All Seniors who would like to have their picture in the yearbook should plan to have their picture taken on this day.

Student Parking Permits

Students may now begin applying for their parking permits for the 2017-18 school year.  Any student parking on school property needs to have a parking permit.  Students should come in to the office between 8am and 3pm Monday through Friday.  They will need to have their license and proof of insurance.  In addition students will need to fill out a vehicle registration card, a driver consent form, and drug testing consent form.  All forms require a parent signature.  The forms may be picked up in the office or are available on the High School website. The cost of a permit is one dollar.  If you have any questions please call the office at (765) 675-7431.

Work Ethic Certificate

New for this year, Tipton High School will be offering a Work Ethic Certificate (WEC) to graduating seniors beginning with the Class of 2018.  The WEC is awarded to those students who have demonstrated those “soft skills” that employers seek in their work force.  Those skills would be closely aligned with the Tipton Community School Corporation’s positive behavior plan – PRIDE (Personal Best, Respect, Integrity, Dependability, Enthusiasm).  Local employers would provide special consideration to those THS graduates who possess the WEC.

While PRIDE focuses on five character skills, the goal of the program is for graduating seniors to earn a WEC that documents a student’s proficiency in those five character skills as well as in four other measures:  attendance (98%), behavior (less than 1 discipline referral), community/school service (6 hours), and grade point average  (GPA of at least 2.0).  The WEC shows that graduates possess the soft skills necessary to succeed in any post-secondary endeavor and, when supported and implemented by businesses and organizations, greatly enhances a community’s ability to meet workforce needs.

THS is currently working with local business and industry partners who will honor the WEC earned by graduates.  Those employers are asked to support the program by offering those graduates with a WEC -  a guaranteed job interview, an applicant pool preference,  an increase base pay,  or some other incentives.

The Governor’s State Workforce Innovation Council views the development and adoption of a community and employer recognized Work Ethic Certificate (WEC) as an important tool that can help provide a pipeline of skilled high school graduates into today’s workforce.  This initiative is especially important in the Tipton community where we are “working together for student success.”

2017-18 Student Registration

2017-18 Student Registration
Online Registration through Harmony Family Access will be available beginning August 1.  Parents will need to login to their Harmony Family Access account and scroll down to the Online Registration tab.  Please fill out all of the listed forms.  If your information has not changed open the Demographics tab and check the no changes box at the bottom of the page.  All students entering Tipton High School (new or returning) need to register.  If you do not have access to the Internet we will have walk-in registration available on August 8 from 2pm-7pm.  If you have any questions the THS Office will be open on July 31 at 8am.

All students entering Kindergarten, 6th grade, and 12th grade at the start of the 2017-18 school year MUST have their vaccinations complete before the first day of school. In accordance with Indiana State law, students will NOT be able to attend school until their vaccinations are complete. Be sure to schedule your appointments soon with your primary care physician or the Tipton County Health Dept. at 675-8741.

2017 THS Wall of Fame Inductees

2017 THS Wall of Fame Inductees
During the 1996-1997 school year, Tipton High School established the Academic Wall of Fame, as well as the Distinguished Wall of Fame. The goals of the Wall of Fame committee were to honor former students of Tipton High School for their accomplishments while encouraging current students to work toward this distinguished honor.

The Tipton community congratulates the three THS Alumni who were added to the Academic Hall of Fame during the 2017 Seniors Awards Program:

Karen (Funke) Hum (Class of 1983).  After high school Karen earned her undergraduate degree from IU. She then attended Ball State University where she earned her master’s degree and in 2016 her doctorate in Educational Psychology. She has served as the director of institutional research for Ivy Tech, and served the state of Indiana as the psychometric consultant during the process of preparing the state’s high school equivalency examination in 2013. She was the technical editor for the book,  Statistics for Big Data for Dummies that was published in 2015. Recently, she took a position at Purdue University as the Director of Assessment.

Jordan Clouser (Class of 2007).  After high school, Jordan attended DePauw University and earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. In 2014, Jordan earned his Doctorate of Juris prudence from Chicago-Kent College of Law. Currently, Jordan works for law of Huelskamp and Associates, specializing in criminal defense.

Justin Clouser (Class of 2004).  Justin also earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science degree from DePauw University and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. The next step of his educational journey led him to the University of Dayton’s School of Law. He earned his Doctorate of Jurisprudence degree in 2011.  Currently he works for the law firm of Noel Law in Kokomo.

All Music Award

All Music Award
It was recently announced that the Tipton High School Band is the recipient of the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) All-Music Award for 2016-2017.  This award is presented for the outstanding musical accomplishments this past year.  Congratulations! Well deserved.

You still have a chance to hear this award-winning band.  They will perform in this year's Stage & Swing Concert on Friday, May 19 beginning at 7:00 in the THS Auditorium.  Finally, the THS Band will have the Tri-Central Band join them in concert on Sunday, May 21 beginning at 6:30 PM.

Tipton High School students, Taylor Pyke and Trent Steward, recently completed a video project for TCEDO and the Tipton Main Street Association.  Under the supervision of THS teacher John Robertson, the students produced a video for the group to promote “The Alley” project.  To see the video created by Taylor and Trent and to find out more about “The Alley” go to their Crowd Funding Page,  or visit the Facebook pages of TCEDO or the Tipton Main Street Association.

WeatherBug's Lightning Alert System at Tipton
Tipton Community School Corporation is a WeatherBug School. The WeatherBug Program collects weather data from our local site. This information is available to anyone in the community. Individual only need to download the program on their computer or app on their smartphone to receive weather information directly from Tipton. (Google WeatherBug)

As a WeatherBug School, TCSC has included the Lightning Alert System. The outdoor alerting system is a valuable community tool in alerting not only school patrons, but also patrons of the city park, the baseball diamonds, and fairground participants when lightning is in the immediate area. This system will sound a horn when lightning is detected eight miles away. This is a warning that people outside should seek shelter. When lightning is within 8 miles of the school, a fifteen (15) second alarm will sound. When lightning has cease to exist within this range for at least thirty (30) minutes, an all-clear signal will be given which is a series of three (3) short alarms of (5) seconds in duration each. Lightning alerts will also be received through individuals’ downloaded computer and phone applications.

The alarms will be activated between the hours of 6:00 am through 10:00 pm. This will prevent the alarms being sounded through the night or early morning hours.
