This is pretty exciting! Last October, elementary school counselor Ben Friedle did College and Career Readiness lessons in every classroom. This was part of the school’s participation in Indiana’s 2018 College GO! Campaign. Part of Mr. Friedle’s lesson included filling out a contest entry form where each student had the chance to win an Indiana 529 Savings Account with $529 in it and the school could win $1000. Apparently not only did Tipton Elementary School win the $1000, but also a TES 3rd grade student's entry was also picked for the $529 in an Indiana 529 Savings Account. CONGRATULATIONS!
A 529 plan is a tax-advantaged savings plan designed to encourage saving for future education costs. 529 plans, legally known as “qualified tuition plans,” are sponsored by states, state agencies, or educational institutions and are authorized by Section 529 of the Internal Revenue Code.
