Tipton Community School Corporation was recently notified that they have received official accreditation by AdvancED. TCSC hosted an AdvancED Engagement Review Team in early February. This team of educators visited Tipton schools and classrooms making observations and talking with stakeholders about the practices and instruction of our students.
Accreditation from AdvancED entails:
Using a set of rigorous research-based standards and evidence based criteria, AdvancED Performance Accreditation examines the whole institution – the policies, programs, practices, learning conditions and cultural context – to determine how well the parts work together to carry out the institution’s vision and meet the needs of every learner.
In order to earn AdvancED Performance Accreditation, schools must:
- Meet the AdvancED Standards and accreditation policies.
- Demonstrate quality assurance through internal and engagement reviews.
- Engage in continuous improvement.
AdvancED Performance Accreditation is not about earning a label for a one-time evaluation. Rather, it recognizes those institutions that have sustained an exemplary commitment to continuous improvement and learner outcomes. (www.advanc-ed.org)
The work on this continuous improvement is only beginning. The report from the AdvancED Engagement Review Team provides suggestions for improvement. TCSC's AdvancED Steering Committee and the schools’ staff have begun to review the findings, develop plans to address the priorities for improvement identified by the Engagement Review Team, use the findings and data from the report to guide and strengthen the schools’ continuous improvement efforts, and celebrate the successes noted in the report.
The Engagement Review Team noted that, “A culture of caring, pride, and support was evident throughout the corporation.” With this foundation within the Tipton community, TCSC will continue to provide quality education and to improve for the betterment of our students.
